Hiking, day 106: Antelope Trail

The smoke is getting increasingly worse in our part of Colorado. If you are going hiking, be sure to be mindful if you have any respiratory issues, and take plenty of extra water for your throat!

Hiking, day 105: Antelope Trail

Enjoying my favorite trail as much as I can before we leave Colorado!

Butterflies and flowers along the trail.

Hiking, day 104: Picture Rock Trail

Back out at Picture Rock Trail at Heil Valley Ranch in Lyons, CO, today.

This prairie dog, chirping at me from the side of the trail.

Hiking, day 100: Bitterbrush Trail (to the Top!)

To celebrate my 100th hike of 2020, I wanted to do something I hadn't yet accomplished, so today I finally did the entirety of the Bitterbrush Trail at Hall Ranch from the trailhead all the way to the top of the mountain where it meets with Antelope Trail. It was over two hours of hiking, but it was invigorating to climb "the rock garden" and to see some of the views of the ranch that I hadn't gotten to yet.

Hiking, day 99: Antelope Trail

Forest fire season has arrived in the Midwest, but fortunately some of the local trails - like Antelope - seem to be a little shielded from the worst of the smoke. Stay safe out there!

Hiking, day 95: Danger Noodle!

My first hiking attempt was cut short rather quickly at Antelope today when I ran into this prairie rattlesnake just a few hundred feet up from the trailhead!

This fella didn't seem to be in a hurry to move anytime soon, so I headed over to Bitterbrush to finish out my morning instead.

Hiking, day 94: Devil's Backbone

Devil's Backbone and Wild Loop in Loveland, CO. I had to drop my car off at the mechanic, so I decided to check out this new-to-me trail nearby.
