Hiking, day 1: Golden Ponds

Happy 2018! It's still been a cold few weeks here in Colorado, but it's starting to get above freezing just today, so I took a quick jaunt around Golden Ponds in Longmont for my first outing of the year.

The ponds are all completely frozen over...

...but the geese don't seem to mind.

A mostly frozen waterfall, too!

The city was in the process of dumping Christmas trees at the edge of the pond. This might seem strange, but they add them to the water every year to provide a habitat for the fish.
